Matthew Buxton
Matthew Buxton has served as an educator since 2000, working in New York City public schools in traditionally under-resourced neighborhoods. Matthew has served as a classroom teacher and Literacy Coach under the tutelage of Teachers College staff developers, as Assistant Principal with Democracy Prep Public Schools, and has delivered workshops in Memphis, Denver, and Baltimore. A strong proponent of professional development and data-driven instruction, Matthew embraces that as an educator, he is on a continuum of learning himself, and is always looking to figure out how to do it better, whatever “it” is. With a background in and passion for literacy, Matthew works to build reading and writing culture across content areas. With school leaders and teachers, Matthew works to employ literacy, delivery and questioning best practices across disciplines to prepare scholars for the rigors of Common Core Standards.
